New test procedure for optimization of bag house filtration by using fast detection systems

Article 15 of the guideline 2008/50/EG publishes on 21st of May in 2008 defines concrete rules for fine dust emission in Europe to save public health.

If particle emission has to be decreased further, 2nd filter stages or higher efficient scrubbers have to be used. In general more energy is necessary. But there is also a huge economic potential by saving energy in bag house or other filters. They run up hole the year while energy costs are increasing. Use of energy in bag house filters is dedicated by the resistance of filter material and the regeneration intensity.

Both can be optimized, but it is difficult because of the very fast processes. Regen-eration with pulse jet uses impulses of compressed air and takes a time of 50 to 300 milliseconds. For optimization this impulses and the pressure change inside the fil-ter element have to be considered. This topic in the last two years has been investi-gated at ILK.
