Surface finishing is an important process widely used for parts processing in the automobile and electronics industries. Also, in order to maintain the quality of the surface finishing, removal of solid impurities in the plating solution is indispensable. Since 1950’s, filtration has been used to maintain plating quality. For filtration of the plating solution, yarn wound cartridge filter media are widely used depending on such as simple handling and low price of the filter material.
When the filter was first introduced into the plating solution, the required filtration accuracy was not so high as several tens mg/dm3. But, in recent years, as the product has become more sophisticated and required quality gets higher, the required filtration accuracy has been also increased. The plating solution has been generally controlled by concentration of solid impurities, but is controlled by the number of impurity particles recently.
