Separation behaviour of multi-component-suspensions (emulsion-slurries)

Suspensions, which contain solid particles as well as droplets suspended in a continuous liquid are called emulsion-slurries or suspoemulsions. These multi-component suspensions occur in a wide range of processes whenever a mixture of solid particles and two immiscible liquids is exposed to mechanical stress or emulsions and suspensions of solid particles are mixed. Examples for such processes can be found in mineral processing, the chemical industry, as well as the food processing industry. In most of these processes it is necessary to separate all three phases from each other at some point.
