Jasun Envirocare launches new energy & planet-saving Jenergie filter at FILTECH

JASUN Envirocare in Somerset has officially launched its new energy-saving range of synthetic bag filters that are designed and made in Britain to help customers save money and the planet (February 2023).

The leading Bridgwater-based UK air filter manufacturer’s Jenergie range of synthetic bag filters offer unparalleled energy ratings, with pressure drop and filtration efficiency, providing cost savings and environmental benefits too.

Jason Day, LEV Division Manager at Jasun Envirocare in Bridgwater, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, says: “Our new Jenergie range, which offers unparalleled energy saving benefits, was launched this week (February 14-16) at Filtech, the world’s largest filtration show, in Germany. To coincide with this, we’ve also released a series of video guides on the range on our website to help customers find out all about our new filters.

“We’re committed to continuous environmental improvement and have a team in Somerset devoted to developing innovative new products. Our objective is to progressively introduce measures that optimise energy efficiency gains and prevent pollution and, in so doing, reduce the environmental impact of the industries we serve. This is where Jenergie comes in.

“Currently, all businesses are looking at cost savings and reducing their energy bills. Companies, particularly in commercial, retail and office environments, and catering and hospitality sectors, all need to have air filters and filtration systems in place to maintain good air hygiene.

“They’re essential in providing clean air for people to breathe and for reducing the transmission of airborne viruses like Covid, thus protecting both their workforces and their customers. Also in some work environments, it’s a legal requirement to have filters in place.

“Legislation and media attention have combined to make company owners increasingly aware of their responsibilities for maintaining healthy, safe working environments for their employees and customers.

“It’s known that poor quality air within mechanically ventilated buildings, negatively impacts on health, causing symptoms such as tiredness, lethargy, headaches, skin complaints and eye irritation. This can lead to poor staff productivity and increase sick days.

“Building owners and managers need to adhere to BS EN 13779: 2007 IAQ standards and have a clear duty to make sure they have appropriate measures in place and they’ve assessed risks that may be present in their ventilation systems that could impact on their employees’ health and lead to fires in ‘high-risk’ extract systems, such as cooking canopy extractors.

“Filtration systems require electricity to work and there are cost implications. In our inhouse lab in Bridgwater, we’ve been working hard to develop our new innovative Jenergie range of air filters that specifically meet our customers’ demands to help reduce their energy costs.

“With our help, a firm installing new air filters and managing filter systems can reduce their energy costs by up to 80%. Businesses often don’t realise that running old systems is inefficient and by installing new filters, they can improve efficiency, do a better job of filtering the air and save on running costs. We offer a free energy saving survey to firms who would like to find out how they can save money on their filters, while ensuring they are fully compliant and their teams and customers are kept safe.

“Our new Jenergie range of products are first-class energy saving filters that help reduce electricity consumption, save money, control pollution and, in the long run, the cost to the planet and future generations.”

As one of the UK’s largest air filter manufacturers, Jasun Envirocare provides a complete range of quality, standard and bespoke, air filters and systems, and all its products are made in Britain.

These include air purifiers, air filters, panel filters, washables, kitchen canopy grease filters, and HEPA filters.

Jason adds: “We’re also specialists in the field of water hygiene – providing a range of treatment solutions and services for commercial systems, and we’re committed to continuous environmental improvement. Our in-house expertise as air filter manufacturers puts us at the forefront of innovation in the commercial air hygiene and water treatment industry.”

Jasun Envirocare’s new Jenergie range and all its products can be purchased direct from its online one-stop-shop: www.jfilters.com. It was the first air filters company worldwide to offer its full range of products online when the website was launched in 1999.

The company, whose strapline is ‘a breath of fresh air,’ has a proud history and reputation as a provider of quality bespoke and standard filtration products and services.

Jasun Envirocare is the only air filter manufacturer that has a UK based ISO16890 test facility and is committed to continuous environmental improvement.

The company employs more than 200 people at its head office and operational sites in Bridgwater and Waterlooville in the UK and has factories and offices also in Europe.

Air filter manufacturer invests in new hi-tech equipment to meet demand

A BRIDGWATER-BASED family-run air filter manufacturing and services company has recently invested in the latest automated equipment for its production line following an increase in demand for its products (December 2022).

Jasun Envirocare has seen sales of its air filtration systems go up significantly since the pandemic started and has purchased the kit for an undisclosed figure with support from Lloyds Bank.

Graham Bentley, Chairman of Jasun Envirocare on Parrett Way in Bridgwater, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, says: “We have seen a 15.7% increase in demand for our air filters and air filtration systems since the start of the pandemic, particularly from firms in the commercial, retail and office environments and hospitality sectors, wanting to implement new air filters that help increase air hygiene and cut operating costs.

“Installing new air filters and managing filter systems can reduce businesses energy costs by up to 80% and under industry and professional guidelines, improved general filtration to a minimum level of 80% at ePM1 (1 micron particle sizes).

“We are seeing increasing demand of domestic air filters from consumers who previously relied on overseas production cycles.

“Seeking methods to streamline production and increase operational efficiency will help to shield our customers from further supply chain issues that could potentially impact their strategic ambitions.

“We’ve always maintained our production facility in the UK and resisted the temptation to offshore our operations over the last 50 years. The sector knowledge and support we have received from Lloyds Bank in the form of an undisclosed fee, has been invaluable. It’s allowed us to move forward with our ambitious growth plans and make adaptations to our business that will help us remain resilient.”

Lloyds Banking Group is a leading UK-based financial services group providing a wide range of banking and financial services, focused on personal and commercial customers. It helps businesses across the UK, giving them the funding and support they need to grow both at home and abroad.

Will Kite, Relationship Director at Lloyds Bank, said: “Global supply chain bottlenecks and rising inflation have shaken the industry with our latest Business Barometer survey in July reporting the manufacturing sector’s economic confidence fell by 12 points to 20%. This lowering confidence shows businesses must be proactive to help protect themselves from the current inflationary challenges.

“It’s been brilliant to work with Jasun Envirocare and help them increase their specialist production capacity and provide a more extensive service to their customers. We hope other manufacturers take inspiration from their successes, so we can bring more home-grown business back to Britain.”

Jasun Envirocare Plc was first established in London in 1972 by husband-and-wife team Trevor and Barbara Foot and by the 1980s had moved to Billingshurst in West Sussex. This factory was destroyed by the great storm of 1987 and the company then moved to Bridgwater, where it has been for the last 35 years.

In 1999 Jasun Envirocare launched https://www.jfilters.com/, making it the first air filters company worldwide to offer its full range of products online.

The company, whose strapline is ‘a breath of fresh air,’ has a proud history and reputation as a provider of quality bespoke and standard filtration products and services.

It provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for filter supply, distribution and installation to meet all commercial air hygiene and water treatment needs. It manufactures and supplies filter products that meet International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) and European (Eurovent) requirements.

Jasun has grown to be one of the UK’s leading air filter manufacturers and prides itself on its family values. The name Jasun was created from the founders, Mr and Mrs Foot’s daughter’s names, Jane and Susan, taking the Ja from Jane’s name and the Su and n from both Susan and Jane. While the company is now onto its third generation of family members, its founding principles remain true.

The company employs more than 200 people in Bridgwater and Waterlooville and has factories and offices across Europe.

Air filter manufacturing and services company launches net zero plans

A FAMILY-RUN air filter manufacturing and services company has unveiled its vision for the future including sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing process (2022).

Jasun Envirocare on Parrett Way in Bridgwater has recently reviewed its carbon footprint and says Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is key to its ongoing success.

Colin Hitch, Managing Director of Jasun Envirocare, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, says: “We’ve had a successful 50 years in business, and we want to have another 50 years, and even more, so to do this, we must become more environmentally friendly and move with the times. We’ve recently worked with some larger companies, which has helped us focus our attention on understanding our carbon footprint. Not only is this planet positive, but it also makes good commercial sense too as it is becoming increasingly common to have to report such data in tenders.

“We have also recruited many Millennials and Generation Zs into our team, and they have a different, but wonderful, mindset and have helped increase our awareness of the environment and the need to project a positive image. COP 26 and subsequent government legalisation has also intensified the need for action and we’re right behind this.

“We are currently undertaking a review of our carbon footprint, highlighting usage and output. There has also been an internal review to assess the measures we can control ourselves.

“We have been accredited to the Environmental Standard ISO14001 since 2004 and as part of that process we regularly undertake waste management reviews, which have resulted in an increase of recycling across the company, a reduction of the amount of waste sent to landfill to proportion of goods sold, the installation of recycling stations across each area of the business, and increasing employee awareness. Other measures we have taken include optical character recognition (OCR) to reduce paper usage and storage, ongoing replacement of lighting to LED, upgrading buildings to improve energy efficiency and, post Covid, continuing to engage with our customers and suppliers online rather than in person.

“As well as all of this, we have also moved all company cars over to hybrid models and are reviewing the effectiveness of migrating our vehicle fleet to electric. We are also looking to create sustainability champions within our work force to help increase employee awareness and engagement, backed up with ongoing training.”
